Issuing a Manual Point Award

Open Rewards Management — In the Admin Portal, navigate to Rewards Management in the left sidebar.

Search for the publisher — Use the publisher search box to find the publisher by name, email, or publisher ID. The search shows the publisher's current tier, lifetime points, and weighted score to provide context.

Click "Award Points" — Opens the award form for the selected publisher.

Enter the point amount — Enter a positive integer between 1 and 10,000. Negative values are not accepted here — use the "Deduct Points" action for corrections.

Enter a reason note — Required field, minimum 20 characters. This text appears in the publisher's reputation event log and in the audit trail. Be specific: "Beta program participation — Q2 2026 InstallHub testing" is good. "Good job" is not sufficient.

Submit — If the award is 500 pts or under, points are credited immediately. If over 500 pts, the award enters the pending approval queue and is not credited until a second admin confirms.

Award Size Rules

What Happens After Award

When an award is credited (either immediately or after approval):

Points are added to both the publisher's lifetime points total and their weighted score
If the award pushes the lifetime total past a tier threshold, the publisher immediately advances to the new tier
The event appears in the publisher's reputation log labeled "Admin Award" with the reason note
The publisher receives an in-platform notification and email with the point amount and reason
The action is recorded in the reward audit trail with the issuing admin's identity and timestamp

Deducting Points

Points can be deducted using the "Deduct Points" action on the publisher's record in Rewards Management. Deductions follow the same approval rules as awards — deductions over 500 pts require dual-admin approval. Deductions are recorded in the audit log separately from awards.

Deductions do not reduce tier

Like certification revocation, manual point deductions reduce both the lifetime total and the weighted score, but they do not reduce the publisher's tier. Tier is protected. A Gold publisher who has 500 pts deducted does not drop to Silver even if the deduction brings their lifetime total below 5,000 — because tier, once earned, is permanent.
