Badges
Badges are milestone achievements awarded automatically when a publisher crosses specific thresholds. Unlike tiers, which reflect cumulative point totals, badges celebrate specific kinds of impact — first publishes, install milestones, certification achievements, and community recognition.
Badge Types
There are two categories of badges: automatic badges awarded by the system when conditions are met, and admin-granted badges awarded manually for contributions that don't fit standard metrics.
Automatic Badges
| Badge | Icon | Condition | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| First Publish | Publisher submits their first package to the marketplace | Celebrates the milestone of joining the marketplace as a contributing publisher | |
| 100 Installs | Any single package reaches 100 unique tenant installs | Signals that a package has found genuine adoption beyond early testers | |
| 1,000 Installs | Any single package reaches 1,000 unique tenant installs | Indicates a widely-adopted package with strong marketplace traction | |
| Top 10 | Publisher appears in the top 10 on the leaderboard (weighted score ranking) | Real-time recognition for marketplace elite status — updates daily as leaderboard updates | |
| Community Helper | Publisher accumulates 10 accepted answers in the Q&A forum | Recognizes publishers who are genuinely helpful to the broader marketplace community | |
| Certified Publisher | Publisher earns their first Certified certification on any package | Marks the publisher as having met the quality and security bar required for Certified status |
Admin-Granted Badges
Admins can manually grant badges through the rewards management panel for contributions that the automatic system doesn't capture:
| Badge | Typical Use Case |
|---|---|
| Ecosystem Partner | Publishers who have formally partnered with BizFirstGO or contributed to platform integrations |
| Early Adopter | Publishers who joined the marketplace in its first wave and helped establish the community |
| Special Contribution | One-off recognition for contributions outside the standard point model — e.g., significant documentation contributions, bug reports, or beta testing |
Where Badges Appear
| Location | Display |
|---|---|
| Publisher profile page | Full badge collection displayed in the Achievements section — icon, name, and earn date |
| Leaderboard | Top badge (highest prestige) shown next to publisher name |
| Publisher info card (on package detail) | Badge count shown as "4 Badges" with tooltip listing badge names on hover |
| Community forum profile | Most recent badge shown under the publisher's display name in forum posts |
Badge Persistence
Automatic badges, once earned, are permanent — they are not revoked if conditions later change. For example, a publisher who earns "Top 10" and later drops out of the top 10 retains the badge. The badge records the achievement at the time it was earned.
The Bronze/Silver/Gold/Platinum tier indicators on publisher profiles are separate from achievement badges. Tier indicators show current standing and update with tier changes. Achievement badges accumulate over time and are not removed.
Notifications on Badge Earn
When an automatic badge is earned, the publisher receives an in-platform notification and an email summarizing the badge earned and what triggered it. Admin-granted badges include a message from the admin explaining the award.
