Visibility Impact
Reputation tier directly influences where and how prominently a publisher's packages appear across the marketplace. Higher tiers unlock search boosts, featured placement eligibility, and leaderboard positioning — compounding the growth advantage for established publishers.
Search Ranking Formula
MarketHub's search results are ranked using a weighted formula across five factors:
| Factor | Weight | What It Measures |
|---|---|---|
| Installs | 30% | Total unique tenant installs for the package |
| Rating | 25% | Average review score weighted by review recency |
| Recency | 20% | How recently the package was published or last updated |
| Reputation tier | 15% | Publisher's current tier with boost applied |
| Certification level | 10% | Package's certification status (Official > Certified > Community) |
Reputation Tier Boost in Search
The 15% reputation tier weight in the search formula is further boosted for Gold and Platinum publishers:
| Tier | Tier Component Boost | Practical Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Bronze | None | Tier contributes base 15% weight with no multiplier |
| Silver | None | Tier contributes base 15% weight with no multiplier |
| Gold | +10% | The 15% tier component is scaled up by 10%, effectively adding ~1.5 percentage points of final score |
| Platinum | +15% | The 15% tier component is scaled up by 15%, effectively adding ~2.25 percentage points of final score |
The reputation tier boost applies to every package the publisher owns. All packages in the portfolio benefit from the publisher's tier status. If a Gold publisher has 12 packages, all 12 receive the +10% tier component boost.
Featured Placement
The MarketHub homepage and category pages include curated "Featured" sections that highlight packages selected by admins. Only Gold and Platinum publishers' packages are eligible for featured placement.
| Featured Location | Eligibility | Selection |
|---|---|---|
| Homepage hero carousel | Gold or Platinum publishers | Admin-curated, updated weekly |
| Category page "Featured" row | Gold or Platinum publishers, package must be in the category | Admin-curated per category |
| "Staff Picks" section | No tier requirement — editorial discretion | Admin-curated based on quality or novelty |
Leaderboard Visibility
The MarketHub leaderboard ranks publishers by their weighted score (with decay applied). Higher-ranking publishers receive additional incidental visibility:
- Leaderboard is publicly visible to all users without login — high-ranking publishers are discoverable by tenants browsing the marketplace
- Top 10 publishers are highlighted with the "Top 10" badge on their profiles and package cards
- Publisher names on the leaderboard link to their publisher profiles, driving organic profile traffic
- Leaderboard is updated daily — weighted scores are recalculated nightly
Publisher Profile Visibility
The reputation tier badge on a publisher profile serves as a trust signal for tenants evaluating whether to install a package. Higher-tier publishers receive implicit trust advantages in tenant decision-making, beyond the algorithmic search effects:
Badge on Package Cards
The publisher's tier badge (Bronze/Silver/Gold/Platinum) appears on every package card in search results and category listings — directly visible at the browse stage before a tenant opens a package detail page.
Publisher Info Card
On every package detail page, a sidebar shows the publisher's tier badge, total install count, certification count, and reputation score — giving tenants a quick trust assessment without needing to navigate to the publisher profile.
Higher visibility generates more installs. More installs generate more reputation points. More points maintain or advance tier. The system creates a positive feedback loop — publishers who invest in quality early benefit from compounding visibility advantages over time.
